Greetings all,
As has been my custom, I have been keeping an eye on the crown tourney spreadsheet (tiny [dot] cc [slash] springcrown2026) and the livestream (on the SCA youtube channel), and reporting round by round results on facebook. For those who are not on facebook, and have yet to go to either of those sources to see the details, here is more or less what happened:
The round robin was fought briskly, on two fields simultaneously, and took barely two hours! The marshals, heralds, and lists are to be complimented on their efficiency. The livestream allowed all fights to be witnessed (mostly), with no major technical issues, and was enlivened by occasional musical interludes and trivia questions. Congratulations to the livestream team, and especially Medb, who stepped in at the last minute to make sure it could run.
At the end of the eleven rounds of round robin, the standings were:
- Duke Sir Niall, undefeated
- Count Ratbot, 2 losses (to Niall and Hanbal)
- Sir Hanbal & TH Noble Valentine, 3 losses (Hanbal to Niall, Galen, and Valentine; Valentine to Niall, Ratbot, and Ianto)
- Sir Galen, 4 losses (to Niall, Ratbot, Sverker, and Valentine)
- Sir Sverker & Master Cormac, 6 losses
- Duchess Engelin & Count Thorvaldr, 7 losses
- General Aia, 8 losses
- Sir Ianto, 9 losses
- TH Lord Mathias, withdrawn after round 8
Byes after Mathias' withdrawal were fought by Count Thorolfr.
The final was to be best of 5, between Duke Sir Niall and Count Ratbot. On the livestream, the court at the beginning of the final begins at 2:35:05, and the first bout begins at 2:40:30. Count Ratbot won three bouts in a row, and was victorious.
For all the combatants and their consorts, all the tourney team and event team, and for Lochac's Heirs, Prince Ratbot von Borg and Princess Grete Engelhardtz, three cheers!
Yours in Service,
Mistress Gwen verch David
