Event brainstorming session write up
I apologise for not writing this up earlier, it's been a busy week. I came up with a few ideas for A&S events- * dirty schola (where you get your hands dirty doing things) * a bardic salon, where various mentoring/classes can happen * a day of beauty, (beauty treatments, makeup, hair, etc) covering how it was done in period & how it can be recreated now (in a more healthy way) * schola event with A&S populace judging and competitions * all things fibre event from spinning, dyeing, weaving to knitting, embroidery etc. However, a few more suggestions were put in from others, such as * an old garb hand-around with a follow up class on how to adapt garb to body sizes, dressing it up etc. * a class on a capsule wardrobe with doing summer/winter garb mix and match Some of the feast ideas that were raised were * harvest festival, depending on the season * masque ball * hunting feast, perhaps after an archery event * Viking village with informal A&S. Much discussion happened on the idea of a a Harvest Market with feast, specifically to happen in Autumn. Possible dates of 18/19th May. A market was wanted, so people can make and sell products. However, this would be considered a large-ish event, as well as the Easter event of the Viking village (since Easter will be 2 weeks before Festival next year). This in turn raised smaller event ideas, like * the Chess Challenge. Possible dates 2/3rd March, to perhaps also include boffer. * cooks' guild having a day in a community kitchen to test recipes, teach classes. * Masque ball (with A&S a few weeks earlier to prepare masks to wear) * SH Winterfeast and William Marshal. A return to the old event types. * SH Baronial Championship in Feb * doing a session at a ceramics studio for people to make plates/goblets for themselves. This would be cost high & out of garb but would bring quite a few people together and people would them have gear to use at a feast. Then was raised the question on how do we run events? For those interested in learning how to run events should there be a class too? Let's start a discussion! What do you want to see or do? How can this all be made into reality? Yours, Miriam bat Shimeon Stirring the pot.
