To be clear, does "up to moderators to decide" mean that moderators choose between all of (a) replies go to the list without moderation; (b) replies go to moderation before going to the list; or (c) replies go to the sender? Or just (a) and (b)? I expect (a) or (b) would would work for most lists but I can imagine occasions on which (c) might be preferred for announcement-type lists. Houston, I suspect we have a winner.
The message makes it to my gmail account with all headers showing google is happy with the authentication. The only sender shown, and the only place I can send a reply, is the list itself. If we turn this setting on for most of our lists, the messages should get to everyone, and:
With lochac-announce, anyone attempting to reply will go to the list and be moderated according to its rules
For pelicans, etc, replies will go the list and thus all members
For group lists, like ynys-fawr, it will be up to the moderators to decide.
It means that you can’t see from the sender details who posted the original message to the list (it doesn’t appear as coming from nico via selenetest, just from selenetest), but that is possibly a good thing. Provided people sign their messages with their names, which I am pretty sure they generally do, this would work.
