Good Gentles on Laurel-Lite list,
This is more than the "just agenda and minutes" promised, but I didn't want to trim out the other content so you are in the know about potential Festival additional agenda content.
If you have thoughts, comments suggestions please use tallulah.cunningham(a)uon.edu.au (I've not yet managed to confirm where the LaurelClerk one is currently pointed and get it corrected) rather than to the list.
[cuts and pastes main email:]
My thanks to those who contributed to the trial format poll.
For any one put off by being required to have a google account please know that I found and switched off that aspect for the form.
We have had 24 contributors which knocks the socks off the average forum poll response in my (albeit limited) Clerkish experience.
I have put the main percentages for each candidate at the bottom of this email (drop to watch was >15% for any individual)
Of note : there was an average of 1/3 or more abstention for each participant on Discuss.
This seems a large percent for candidates on Discuss...
These (and future) candidates, and ergo the Order, may benefit from us discussing at or prior to Festival:
"How do we more actively communicate/update about candidates" so that a response of "I don't know" is less prevalent.
Would it be viable to have assigned/volunteering "unofficial guardian laurel (or laurels)" who each put their name to checking in and encourage one (1) candidate on the Discuss list that does is not have an existing mentorship (or if that individual's Peer could do with an assist) for inspiring/enquiring about what a candidate is doing and reporting back to the Order?
I know frequently in meetings someone says "I'll talk to them about X..." but I don't know how much follow up that generally has. I know I get home, unpack and generally get sucked back into Real Life (tm).
It's been a big few years and I have been feeling that the line between "I don't know" and "I could know more but I don't have headspace to look" has been occasionally smudgy.
How can we as an Order better lower the bar for our members to knowing more about (especially remote) Discuss candidates?
How do we as an Order better help boost/inspire Watch candidates into Discuss?
If you have ideas/comments to the above
PLEASE REMEMBER that many people get the digest version and so do trim out my email (or create a fresh email) to keep the conversation threads kind on the eyes.
In service by keyboard, pen and e-pigeon.
