Greetings fair populace of the Kingdom of Lochac. We would be honoured to invite you to witness those who wish to partake in the Spring Crown Tournament to choose the future Heirs of Lochac. The weekend's theme is 'Along the Coffee Trail' and as such the menu will include delicacies from the regions that the bittersweet liquid spread. Coffee is thought to have spread from Ethiopia to Egypt and Yemen where it was first roasted, and then by the 16th century it spread throughout the Middle East, Türkiye, Persia, and into northern Africa. Later coffee spread from the Muslim regions to Italy and Hungary in the 17th Century. The first coffee house was in Constantinople. There will be a market bazaar set for those who wish to sell goods during the weekend and a young merchant will be selling Turkish coffee over both days. The event has dorm and camping options, with catered and offboard pricing. The Barony of Krae Glas in conjunction with The Barony of Stormhold will be hosting the Annual Bi-Baronial Chess Challenge at the Dolphin’s Keep. Enjoy your BYO picnic and participate/support the fighters in the armoured and rapier tournament, enjoy games, practice your skills of Chess on a Giant Chessboard and cheer on the Baronial representatives in the Annual Barony vs Barony Chess match. The Armoured tourney rules Round 1 - Pawns: Everyone to fight with sharpened sticks (i.e. thrusting spears). Round 2 - Knights: Counted Blows e.g.- each fighter gets to throw five good blows with arms & legs not lost. Round 3 - Bishops: Maces and shields. Round 4 - Rooks: Sword and large shield (defence) Round 5 - Queens: Queens is the best protected and each combatant fights with two guardsmen drawn at random, (from the fighter pool) fighting to the end with the death of the "Queen". Round 6- Kings: All fighters take to the field to defend the last two combatants or "Kings". To be repeated until there is a winner. It is encouraged by all fighters that have Gauntlets that they bring them. The Rapier Tournament will be decided on the day. Location The Dolphin’s Keep. C for Cardboard) It's Summer and Clan Brechin & Friends would like to invite you to get Creative with Cardboard boxes and make a ship to battle it out to be the Conquerors of the Clan Brechin Seas. There will also be Campaigns during the day for you to try and win some Booty for your Crew. So gather your Crew mates and get aboard. Rules of the C, Crews must be registered to enter 1 week before by messaging Airdin (Cutoff is 18th Jan). You have until the 25th of January to construct your ship. Ships must be manned by at least 3 Crew (preferred 2 Crew to hold the Ship and a Cabin person) Cabin person will have to be able to disembark the ship to do a series of missions. Construction materials that may be used are: Cardboard boxes, Pool Noodles, Tape, Staples, String/rope/webbing Cloth The objective will be to make a sturdy ship to partake in a Boat Race. But do not fear Clan Brechin would not say that you Cannot defend yourself with Cannons in the form of pool noodle water pistols. Plus Water Balloons, And sponges. Some will be supplied but also bring your on. But it’s not all just fun and games for those at sea. Because the populace and opposing Crew mates will be defending the shores as well. If you don't have a ship you can still join a crew and assist in gathering booty in games and activities. For those not wanting to get wet there will be games in the Dolphins Keep. Seeking new Quartermaster of Krae Glas

Greetings! Are you a packing guru? Can you immediately place your hand on a stored item? Can you carry a carton of plates? Some - though not necessarily all - those abilities are needed in the next Quartermaster for Krae Glas. It's a behind-the-scenes job which can make running events and other activities easier for all concerned. So, if you have the following skills, consider becoming our next Quartermaster and pitch in. Key requirements: * You will need to be a current SCA member, 18 years or older * Reliable and responsive access to email and internet * Ability to keep on top of a variety of related administrative tasks (eg inventory, tracking items in use etc) You may not think that you are the right person for this job, but if your friends forward you a copy of this notice, pay attention to them! And if you know someone who you think would be good in the job, do them (and all of us) a favour - ask them to apply. Key elements of the job: * ensuring timely, appropriate access to storage and needed items * a willingness to keep track of who has what, to manage issues and returns If you have the muscles and the vehicle to transport needed items, that's great, but you don't have to do this job all yourself.
