The second round of this year's Arts and Sciences Championship for Lochac is to be judged in concert with the Spring Crown Tournament, to be held in Stormhold, 5-7 September 2025. Judging of A&S will take place on the Saturday. The themes for Spring Crown, A.S. LX, will be: - Food Storage - Linen - On Squares and Commons I look forward to seeing what Lochac can do with these topics. :) If you want to enter, but can't bring your item to the event, you have a couple of options: - You could send it on the day, with your trusted friend. This friend will need to deliver the entry and remember to collect it again after judging. - Or you can have your entry judged locally, before the event, so that we can take your results into account when the rest of the competition is judged. If you do wish to enter remotely, please discuss this with your local A&S officer as soon as possible. *Entries must be handed to them by 17th August.* They will need time to find judges and have the entry assessed, using the standard criteria, and then send on the results. That way, all the entries can be taken into account at the event, as equitably as possible. Seeking a Deputy to the Seneschal

Hi there! It is Rúna here, the Seneschal of Krae Glas. The laws of Lochac and the laws of common sense mean that I need to find a deputy within six months of stepping up. It is not that point yet, but I want to get ahead and have two fairly onerous offices already. If you think you could help or want to discuss this, let me know! Further details below. To be my deputy, Kingdom law requires that you: * Be a member of the SCA (if this would be financially difficult, we can sort it out) * Be 18+ * Be willing and able to perform the duties of the office, which principally include being and willing to take over the office of Seneschal at short notice for up to several weeks * Maintain privacy and confidentiality I am able to appoint a deputy as I see fit and we'll agree on your duties and tenure together. Here's what I'm currently thinking: * _Tenure: 1 year. _After that, I plan to actively search for the next Seneschal of Krae Glas and I'd like to have a deputy to train into that role. If that is you, excellent, but I would want to have that discussion rather than have unspoken expectations from either of us or the Barony. * _Workload: 1-2 hours per week,_ unless you choose to take on extra projects or there's an emergency. * _Duties:_ * Attend Council meetings, which are currently once a month on Tuesday evenings (up to 2 hours). * Be ready to step in as Seneschal at short notice for up to several weeks. I also have some duties that can be easily delegated. You can take on some or none of them: minutes taking for Council meetings, following up on reports, event stewarding or helping event stewards, following up on action items, helping with handovers of officers and/or listening to me vent. Ideal person: _I will not consider any applications from post-pandemic Seneschals of either Barony._ I would like either someone who is either entirely new blood or a member of the older guard with some cultural competence. Local Update for Crown Tournament Stormhold 5-7 Sept

Greetings, My apologies for receiving this email twice, this has additional local information to the one sent to Lochac announce. It is now less than two months until September Crown. There is a price rise in two weeks. There are still plenty of cabins and camping spaces available. Bookings can be made through the webpage https://springcrown.lochac.sca.org/ Everard and Hanbal have been asked to join The Order of the Chivalry, and their peerage ceremonies will be happening on the Sunday. The Crown tournament is looking like it will have at least 24 fighters. There will be multiple fields running. I am looking for volunteers to assist during the weekend. * Attendants for Their Majesties to work in shifts (will be provided with information) * Attendants for visiting Barons and Baroness' to work in shifts. (will be provided with information) * Voice and field heralds - courts and tournaments. * Minions to assist lists during the Crown Tournament and the Roses Tournaments on the Sunday. (information will be given) * Servers during the feast - at least 8 more would be appreciated. (will be provided with some training and tabard for wear during service) * I also require people who can transport visitors to or from the airport. The Baron and Baroness of River Haven are travelling with a 6-year-old who requires a booster seat on the Friday from Tullamarine. We have several sets of B&B's coming. We need to borrow any suitable thrones. TRM, P&P plus 6-8 extra landed B's outside of Stormhold and Krae Glas. (At this stage 6 have booked) Bedding for the cabins is not provided. If you have spare bedding for visitors or are able to billet someone prior or post event, please contact Lady Ysobel. We require many banners and decorations for the feast hall. Please contact Lady Violette if you wish to loan items for this purpose. Can I please borrow Marshal tabards and Heralds tabards for the weekend? Please bring banners, with poles if possible, and portable holes - we can put pegs in the ground around the field. Bring fabric covers for mundane items at the Crown tournament. Water bottle covers will be made at crafthalls, if people are willing. (drawstring bag to fit a water bottle). If you need to borrow garb please contact Lady Fionnghuala or her deputy Louise ASAP. Reminder to fighters - the known world will be watching. Please have your kit in good condition (no visible duct tape on armour). If you do not have a banner, arrange to make one. We can run another workshop for silk banner painting if required. If you want stuff made that you need assistance with, ask at training - there are people willing to help you. If you require something to be made - some people are willing to barter if you are struggling for cash. Make sure your authorisations, and cards are up to date- carry your form if you do not have a current card. We will not be vouching for people on the day. I would like all fighters to have a shield ready for the list tree. This is for both days and rapier and armoured fighters. Archers are also welcome to do a shield- we can have an additional tree if required for the archery field. Anyone willing to make up some for the visiting fighters please contact me. These can be painted at crafthall on Monday nights. I need people on site on the Friday afternoon to set up the marquee and other items, also people to pack up the site on the Sunday afternoon. If you have any award nominations, please get them to the Baron and Baroness, or on the persons Kingdom roll of arms page.
