by Miriam Staples 25 May '25

25 May '25

Hello everyone! I will be teaching a class on Mamluk embroidery at the Stormhold Monday training on June 2nd (https://stormhold.lochac.sca.org/regular-gatherings/monday-fighter-training…). I can discuss who the Mamluks were, a very small history (if you keep looking, there's always more to see), as well as their unique embroidery styles & how to do it. However, I'm happy to run with what people would like to do. If you're curious, this is what Mamluk embroidery looks like- https://www.artic.edu/artworks/70413/fragment https://jameelcentre.ashmolean.org/collection/7/10222/10230/15998 https://jameelcentre.ashmolean.org/object/EA1984.353 Let me know please.
