Your email to this list is a good demonstration that mailman doesn't have a hard limit
to line length. Those three paragraphs in your mail below are all appearing as continuous
lines in my email, stretching and shrinking as I stretch and shrink my window.
Which is not to say that there aren't hard character returns in your examples, but
they must be getting inserted as part of the copy and paste.
More experimentation is required apparently.
I just copied this text from FB into this email (which is going to a mailman list). At
the moment, it’s appearing in my email client with the correct line endings. If it comes
out broken when you and I look at it in a moment, then mailman has done something to it
after Outlook sends it. If it makes it to us with no extra line breaks inserted, then the
problem is something else.
Cheers,
Nico
As you know, each month the cover page of this group is updated with something that is
relevant to the month.
In 2021, I am going to mix things up a bit, and each month I am going to be spotlighting
one of Lochac's 12 Baronies (a very convenient number!).
Thsi will include not just the cover photo, but during the month, we will be posting
trivia and history about the Barony and any Cantons that belong to that Barony.
I'll be using the Lochac Order of Precedence for the Baronies, which is:
Rowany, Innilgard, River Haven, Aneala, Stormhold, Ynys Fawr, Politarchopolis, Southron
Gaard, Saint-Florian-de-la-rivière, Ildhafn, Mordenvale, Kraé Glas. (as per the Lochac
Website).
I am going to be looking for a phot from each Barony to use as a cover photo. A photo
that the Barony populace feels represents the Barony, as well as a bit of information as
to why that photo is significant.
During each month, please feel free to share your memories and photos, history and trivia
about that spotlighted Barony.
I'll be using the hashtags #BaroniesofLochac and the name of the Barony.
Feel free to message me, or send me an email at media(a)lochac.sca.org if you have any
questions or would like to contribute!

Subject: [Servers] Mailing List text weirdness
For some time, my wife has derided people emailing mailman mailing lists for seemingly
copy and pasting from facebook. This is because when she looks at the email on her phone
there are weird hard returns and she figured that was from the copy and paste (and because
the exact post also went on facebook) ...
... until it happened to an email I sent. She asked and I had in fact copied from email
for the facebook post. It's how I do things.
So it seems that mailman (or the underlying mail protocols - searches I've tried blame
python's mail protocols) has a hard character line length. I can't find a mailman
setting to change that - does anyone know of a solution? Given how more people are now
accessing email via phones, this is something that would be nice to fix. If the list
doesn't scrub it, examples attached: two of the mailing list email (with bad line
breaks) and the third is me forwarding the source email directly and showing none of the
line breaks.
